Always be gentle when setting the hook for white crappie. Their mouths are thin and fragile and you will tear the hook right out of it if you jerk too hard. It’s best to use a gentle flick of the wrist that will tighten the line but not tear their mouth in the process.

It is important that you are always alert and that you watch your line closely. Otherwise, you may miss a lot of the bites that you are getting, which will cause you to return home empty handed instead of with the nice catch you could have had.

Crappies are sought after for the sport of fishing but that is not the only reason they are popular. Crappies are considered to have an excellent taste that many people love. They have a flaky white meat that makes them appropriate for a variety of different dishes that will suit most anyone’s taste.
