White Perch Fishing Secrets

The white perch is one of the easiest species of fish there is to catch. You don’t need to go out and spend lots of money on special equipment. It doesn’t take much to get their attention so you can start reeling them in. This is the main reason the white perch is an excellent species for anyone new at fishing to start off with or for any age group. It is also an excellent choice for family fishing trips. They are easy to catch but put up enough of a fight to make it interesting and fun.

Where to Find White Perch

The white perch can be found in most any fresh water but they are the most plentiful in and around the Great Lake area. Even though they do travel from one area to another they usually don’t travel very far from their original home. Once you know where they are located you can usually stay in that general area with much success.

One great thing that makes the white perch so popular is the fact that they will bite all year long so there is no special time of year that you need to go fishing for the best results. You can also entice them to bite any time of the day if you present your bait right. When they are hungry they are heavy aggressive feeders that can provide an exciting fishing trip.

The best and simplest technique to use for catching white perch is jigging. Make sure you are using small hooks or they will not be able to take the bait. Sinkers will sometimes work better than bobbers so have a supply of both available until you see which one is working the best.

It is always a good idea to check your line to make sure there are no weak spots and always check your equipment before going out to make sure it’s in good condition. Catching perch for fun is fairly easy but if you want to get the most from each trip the white perch fishing secrets above will help you get off to a good start.
