How to Catch Crappie in Lake Eerie

Keep in mind that crappie spawn time in Lake Eerie is usually around April and when the dogwoods start to bloom. However, you don’t have to mistakenly think that this is the only time to find crappie. Just be aware that it is easier during spawning and that slightly different tactics may be needed during other times of the year.

If fishing Lake Eerie in other seasons, you can benefit a great deal from a fish finder. A good fish finder will help you locate the depths at which the schools of crappie are at and it can also help you find underwater structures and other areas where crappie might be a lot easier. When you can’t see under the water of the lake, it can be difficult without equipment and other tools to find a good spot. A lot of crappie fishing in Lake Eerie involves trial and error. When you find something that works well, you will want to do it again and again each time you fish.

When you learn what’s not working, you know to move on to another spot, another tactic or another bait. The more you fish for crappie, the more comfortable you will be in finding them and finding your “hot spots” more quickly and early on in your fishing trip.
