Use the seasons to your advantage when you go fishing for crappie. During the summer months the days will be longer and the winter brings in shorter months.

Baits for Catching Crappie

When choosing bait for fishing crappie you’ll want to use what you’re comfortable with. Since crappie will eat just about anything, it’s hard to say exactly what bait will work.

You can never go wrong with using the bait that is found naturally in the environment that the crappie is living in. Crappies live on a variety of different live baits that include:
Minnows
Worms
Grasshoppers
Crickets
Crawdads
Frogs

These live baits are great and should be used when you know what the natural food source of the crappie you’re fishing is. Live baits are good but you can also use artificial baits like jigs. Jigs are the only baits that resemble the baitfish perfectly. They move in such a way that the crappie will think it’s real and bite.

When you follow these three secrets you’ll greatly increase your chances of success. There is no sure fire plan that will guarantee you to catch crappie all the time. Experience is what really counts and should never be overlooked. Trust your gut and you’ll never go wrong when it comes to fishing.
