Crappie Fishing Techniques

Flipping Technique

Flipping may sound complicated, but the truth is, flipping may be one of the easiest ways of catching Crappie. Flipping allows you great versatility in the area and type of bait you use. Flipping also allows you to place the bait pretty much anywhere you want, including under logs, or in the center of a bed of weeds.

The flipping technique is very simple.

1) Use a SpinCast reel. Place your bait of choice on the line. A Jig works best.
2)Push the release button to release the line.
3) Measure out enough line so that you bait and line is even with your wrist.
4) Engage the gears on your reel.
5) Raise the tip of the rod and take the line in your left hand (or right if you are left handed) You can easily do this by taking the line between the reel and handle and then swing the line away from the rod.
6) swing the jig near your body. As the jig travels towards your target, release the line in your left (or right) hand.
7) Place the jig in the exact location you want it by raising, lowering, or moving the rod with your right hand.
