I need to learn more about crappie habitat, what can you tell me?

Crappie tend to live in bodies of water that are slow moving. The enjoy areas where there is lots of shade so in crevices and where trees hang over to offer them some shade. Look for areas that offer grasses and other brush. You do need to be careful not to get your hook and line stuck in such areas though.

Crappie enjoy habitat that allows them to move around close to the shore. You won’t need a boat to get to them. They also like aeras that offer them a chance to spin in water holes due to dips in the water.

During the spring and summer the crappie will be moving to spawning locations. You will need to do some research on their routes to find out where their habitat has moved to. You will also want to find out if they will spawn early in the spring or late in the summer for that given location.
