When fishing for crappie at Kentucky Lake, remember that minnows are the crappie’s natural food of choice, so they are also good bait choices when fishing for crappie. Try to fish live bait, because an active, live bait will much more readily attract your crappie catch. Consider using a crappie light, or even hang a propane lantern just off the water to attract bugs. The bait fish will show up to eat the insects, and you guessed it! The crappie will show up to eat the bait fish, and hopefully take the bait on the end of your line!

Just follow simple, common sense rules of thumb, and when you are in doubt, just try your best to find an old timer around and ask!
