Straight Bait for Minnows

What bait should I use to catch silvery minnows?

Trapping minnows is a great alternative to buying minnows. First off, it is cheaper, and second, it assures that your minnows will be the same type that is in the water you are fishing in.

The all-time best minnow bait is just plain old bread. take several slices, get them, wet and wad them up into a large ball. Place this into your trap. Drop the trap in likey places the noight before you plan to go fishing. Right before daybreak, go collect your trap, and likely as not, it will be full of minnows. A good way to check your spot before you bait it is to throw a few small pieces of bread into the water. if minnows come up to eat it, you are in a good spot.

Other good baits are crackers, dog food, and hot dogs, and they have the added benefit of also attracting crawdads.
