4 Red Lake Crappie Fishing Tips

If you’re new at fishing for crappie then you need to know that this is a species that can see very well. Therefore, colors will make a difference. It’s always a good idea to try different color jigs in different depths to determine which ones work the best.

It’s important to know that the crappie don’t stay in one place for long periods of time. They will move from one location to another in search of a good food source. Therefore, if you had excellent luck one day in a specific area you may not yield any results in the same spot on another day. This is why learning all you can about this species, will pay off in the long run. When the food source begins to dwindle in one area, they will move to another.

If you seek out areas where the natural food source is plentiful, you’ll most likely find a school of crappie. You may find it beneficial to pick up a map of the lake so you can learn where some of the prime locations can be found. This will help give you a big head start so you can get busy reeling in the crappie sooner instead of searching for them.

If you’re visiting Red Lake for the first time it’s vital that use caution. This lake is beautiful and it would be easy to relax and get a little careless but accidents can happen fast. This is why you need to always be alert and aware of your surroundings. If you’re going out on a boat, then you need to add boating safety to list of rules and make sure safety is always your first priority.
