Crappie is an incredibly popular game fish for avid fisherman. A number of characteristics make this fish one of the most popular fish among avid fisherman.

Crappie fishing is suitable for people of all ages. While Bass and Stripers put up such a fight that a small child or weaker adult may just simply not be able to get the fish in, Crappie are often so gentle that many times, you have caught them before you even realize it

Crappie = Good Eating?

Crappie are on the smaller end of the fishing spectrum, typically anywhere from a half pound to a pound. Under ideal conditions, you may find larger crappie up to six pounds, but this is rare. However, for what the crappie loses in size, they make up in taste.

Crappie meat is a pure, flaky, white meat that is very versatile. Crappie fillets can be baked, battered, fried, or broiled.

The most popular crappie recipes typically include battering and frying. Pre-made fish batters are available at any local market, or grocery store. If you what to be unique, you may consider concocting your own homemade batter. Many traditional recipes can be found online, use these as reference to create your own. Who knows, you may even start a family tradition.
