The Crappie End Of The Stick

The best way to catch cripple .how to set your line up .and what bait to use.

The best way to catch crappie is whatever is working for you at the moment. You tactics may vary depending on the time of year, and your location. Genberally, there are three main rigs you will use 90% of the time. The first is a live-minnow rig. Use a # 6 light wire hook on the end of your line. Bait is with a live 1-1/2″ minnow, hooked right behind the dorsal fin. 18″ above that, rig a light sinker. This can be fished vertically at any depth, and also with a slip bobber, also at any depth. It has the advantage of being able to be dropped right in to heavy cover. The next rig is the Fish-Finder Rig. Place several split shots of a bell sinker on the end of your line. 18″ above that, make a 6″ dropper loop. 18″ above that, make another 6″ dropper loop. Rig each loop with a light wire hook and bait with live minnows. These can be fished at any depth, and is the best way to nail a lot of crappies, fast. The last rig is to simply tie on a crappie jig, and place a bobber above it at the depth you want to fish. Thgis can be workled around cover, and is very good when crappie are suspended.

Happy Fishing.
